Millheim Borough is located in Centre County, Pennsylvania on Route 45 approximately 30 miles east of State College. The Borough is situated in a rural setting that offers close proximity to Penn State sporting activities, restaurants, theatres, and shopping. The town itself offers quaint craft shops, restaurants, a volunteer fire company, ambulance service, banking facilities, and a community swimming pool. The Borough has a designated Historic District that is listed with the Centre County Historical Society. The Penns Valley Area School District is located approximately three miles west of Millheim on Route 45.

NOTICE OF REQUEST FOR SEALED BIDS

Notice is hereby given that the Borough of Millheim desires to sell the property located at the corner of Centre and Water Streets in the Borough of Millheim, Centre County, Pennsylvania, Centre County Tax Parcel Number 33-005-153, as described in Centre County Record Book 2060, Page 385. Pursuant to Section 1201(4) of the Borough Code, request is hereby made for sealed bids from interested parties for the purchase of this property. Interested bidders should submit a sealed bid to Sharon A. Heckman, Millheim Borough Secretary, Millheim Borough Municipal Building, 225 East Main Street, P.O. Box 421, Millheim, PA 16854 no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2010. The results of the bidding shall be made by public announcement at the regular meeting of Millheim Borough Council to be held on September 14, 2010 commencing at 7:00 p.m. in the Millheim Borough Municipal Building. The Borough reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids for a period of 30 days following the announcement of the bid results. Realty transfer taxes, if any, shall be shared equally by the parties and final settlement shall take place within 60 days of the date the Borough accepts the bid. Library Moving to Millheim Borough Building

The Millheim Borough is please to welcome the East Penns Valley Branch Library, formerly Aaronsburg Library, to the main floor of the Millheim Borough Building. The new library hours are :

Monday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Tuesday: 1 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Wednesday: Closed

Thursday: 1 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Friday: 10 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Saturday: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Sunday: Closed

New Recycling Opportunity in Millheim Borough

The Centre County Solid Waste Authority has placed a gray corrugated cardboard recycling bin at the Millheim Borough Building. Residents are asked to place only dry, clean, non-waxy cardboard in this bin.

In addition to the newly placed corrugated cardboard recycling bin, there are also two recycling bins for the following items: steel and aluminum cans, plastic bottles, jugs & jars, clear, green/blue and brown glass bottles & jars as well as newspapers, mixed office paper, junk mail, paperboard and magazines.

Important Rules and Regulations

Sidewalk Obstructions: It is the responsibility of the property owner to see that all sidewalks are cleared of snow, ice and other obstructions within twenty-four (24) hours after the same shall cease to fall, in the case of snow, or shall have occurred, in the case of ice or other obstructions.

Curbside brush pick up is done the first Monday of the month beginning in April and ending in December. The pick up for January is the second Monday of the month so Christmas trees can be collected. No pick ups are done in February or March.

Parking: There is 2-hour parking in the downtown business district. The area is signed and offenders may be ticketed. Please note: Parking in front of a fire hydrant is not permitted, offenders will be ticketed.

Building Permits and Yard Sale Permits are required in the Borough so please call Glenn Ripka at 349-8177 for more information before starting any project.

Crime Watch Meetings

The Crime Watch Meetings continue to be held in the Millheim Borough Council Room at 225 East Main Street, Millheim, PA the third Thursday of each month, beginning at 7:00 p.m. All residents are urged to attend and become part of this group.
